The other day I was having a conversation with someone at Starbucks about the entire chaos which is now occurring in Egypt in the cities of Suez, Cairo, and other areas. Apparently the protests and riots in Tunisia were viewed throughout the Muslim world on Al Jazeera. Then some bloggers got a hold of the story and told everyone in Egypt to join in a protest and march on January 25 in Cairo. No, not a lot of people showed up, but enough to cause the police to come with their riot gear.
Meanwhile, by January 28, 2011 the mob had grown, and gotten out of control, set fire to the parliament building, and effectively shut down the government, causing the president to ask for the resignation of the entire cabinet. They also sent more police into the street, and eventually themilitary. Interestingly enough, the military seem to be siding with the protesters rather than the police. Then the police had released all the prisoners from prison, or so it was reported in the blogosphere.
The details are kind of sketchy because the Internet was shut down by the government, and Al Jazeera was kicked out of the country and had their media and press pass credentials revoked. The government blames Al Jazeera for part of the problem, which in reality could be debated either way, but they were a factor.
Because of the incidents that had occurred earlier on January 13, 2010 in Lebanon (read: "Hezbolla Topples Lebanon Government-US-Backed Prime Minister, While Meeting with Obama, Loses Coalition When Syrian-Backed Group Withdraws," by Farnaz Fassihi and JaySolomon [Wall Street Journal]) intra-group tensions were already very high.
Now, people in Yemen have also taken to the streets with similar anger and rage. In fact, the events in Egypt were called "Day of Rage"-in protest. If we look back at the events which trigger large changes in human society and civilization, we can often find just a few players whose actions, motivations, and dastardly deeds were the focal point, the straw that broke the camel's back, or the butterfly wings flapping, which eventually caused what was later thought of as a Black Swan event.
It is quite interesting isn't it?
Perhaps you have watched things like this play out in the past if you are a studier of the news or history, geopolitics, there is no doubt that you to see patterns, reoccurring events,and challenges that plague human species. When all is said and done, it appears that humans are quite problematic, and cannot be trusted in mass mobs of hysteria, and it only takes one action, to push that snow ball off the mountain, rolling towards hell.
The only question now is; can it be stopped in time before these small events become major historical challenges and fulfill a prophecy no one wishes to live through? And what happens if the Saudi Government falls? Please consider all this.
